Did you know that disability payments (SSDI) for February 2025 come with a rise in amounts? The SSA (Social Security Administration) already has everything ready to distribute the money, all that remains is for the key dates to arrive. This applies to workers with disabilities that last at least one year or end in 2025, and that fall within the diagnoses recognized according to the SSA ‘Blue Book‘ (yes, that giant manual with all the conditions that qualify for disability benefits that we are talking about here).
The juiciest of the data is this: In February, some could receive up to $4,018 if they meet the requirements for the maximum. Of course, certain procedures must be followed. I will quickly summarize it for you in the following paragraphs of this article that has attracted your attention.
The basic requirements to claim SSDI in February 2025
Work credits: You need to have accumulated enough (they are obtained by working and paying Social Security taxes). In 2025, one credit is equivalent to $1,810 and a maximum of 4 credits can be accumulated annually totaling $7,240.
Now, the general rule of thumb is this: 40 credits total, and 20 of them must be from the last 10 years before your disability. But if you are young, they may ask for less. Each case is particular and unique and the eligibility conditions, although more or less general, may vary from one individual to another.
Also keep in mind that if you receive other benefits (such as workers’ compensation), your SSDI payment could be lowered. Better consult with an expert to avoid losing a penny.
Are you ready to know when it’s your turn? It all depends on your date of birth:
- 1st to 10th of the month: You collect on February 12 (second Wednesday).
- 11 to 20: They deposit you on February 19 (third Wednesday).
- 21 to 31: Your day is February 26 (fourth Wednesday).
- Exceptions: If you received SSDI before 1997 or also have SSI, your payment have already arrived on January 31 or February 3.
March payments will arrive, similarly, on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays, which are March 12, 19, and 26. Beneficiaries who also receive Supplemental Security Income will see their payment drop on February 28, since February 1 is a holiday, and the Social Security Administration has a policy of not paying on holidays or weekends.
If you don’t receive your payment on the indicated date, wait at least three business days to rule out a minor delay, and then contact your nearest SSA office.
