The Social Security Administration (SSA) has already announced that the payment dates for retirement benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) are duly defined. Like every month, the sending of deposits and checks begins from the first day, but they change depending on the parameters established by law.

To start, the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment will be sent out on November 1, financial aid designed to help people with disabilities, people over 65 and the blind who have little or no income. The idea of this benefit is to keep these people away from poverty and food risk. Coincidentally, in November, the payment is also sent on day 1 to beneficiaries who claimed payments before May 1997.

The complete Social Security payment schedule for November

As you already know, the SSA separates payments for retirees and SSDI recipients into three groups each month, based on their birthdays, and pays them on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of the month.

A calendar quirk sends a second SSI payment in November

For decades, the SSA has decided that it does not send payments on holidays or weekends, which means that if a payment falls on a Saturday, or something like the Fourth of July, for example, the payment will be advanced to the previous nearest business day. That said, we take this opportunity to explain that December 1, when the next payment should be sent to SSI beneficiaries, is a Sunday.

Given this particular scenario, the SSA advanced the SSI payment to November 29, meaning that beneficiaries will have received two deposits or checks this month. You would think that December would not bring payment for these people, but interestingly, the payment for January 1 (holiday) is also advanced to December 31, which is a Tuesday. As it is, the next payment will be on January 31 (once, early because February 1 is a Saturday).
