Approximately 214,000 people in the state of Utah receive SNAP benefits, the program formerly known as food stamps. As you know, in this beautiful state, SNAP benefits are administered by the Utah Department of Workforce Services, although the funds come from the federal government, provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
SNAP beneficiaries in Utah receive their money through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, called the Utah Horizon Card. It functions and looks exactly like a debit or credit card but can only receive deposits for your SNAP benefits.
In the state of Utah, the payments are grouped into three rounds, on the 5th, 11th, and 15th of each month. Depending on the first letter of your last name, that will be your payment day. The first group is from A to G, the second group is from H to O, and the third group is from P to Z.
SNAP Benefits in Utah: Dates in June 2024
In the month of June, there will be no particular changes in the calendar, such as holidays or weekends, that alter the dates. That said, these are the three payment rounds approved for June in the state of Utah for SNAP beneficiaries:
- From A to G: June 5
- From H to O: June 11
- From P to Z: June 15
The maximum amount you can receive per month depends on several factors. The first is the income limits established by the USDA each year, depending on household size. All monthly net household income is considered, including wages, Social Security, child support, and other benefits.
Certain expenses can be deductible, such as housing costs, childcare, and medical expenses. There are also limits to the amount of resources a family can have, such as savings, bank accounts, and vehicles. The purpose of these limits is to direct SNAP benefits to families who are truly in need.
