Missourians who lost food purchased with their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits due to severe storms in May in Barry, Bollinger, Butler, Carter, New Madrid, Ripley, Scott and Stoddard will now have until June 27 to apply for replacement benefits to the Family Support Division.
This extension comes after the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) approved the Department of Social Services’ request to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for replacement SNAP benefits, Families who do not live in the aforementioned counties, but who experienced a misfortune at home due to the storms in May, must notify of their loss within 10 business days. That means they have until this week to apply for replacement benefits.
“It is essential that we use all available tools to support families who have been affected by these severe storms,” said Kim Evans, director of the Family Support Division of the Department of Social Services. “Our teams have been working on the ground to help those affected and we will work as quickly as we can to connect affected families with necessary services.”
To report a loss and begin the process of receiving replacement benefits:
The SNAP household or an authorized representative must complete the online Replacement Application or complete and return the Replacement Application Form by June 27.
Completed forms can be submitted to the Family Support Division through the upload portal, faxed to (573) 526-9400, or dropped off or mailed to any local FSD office.

How to Apply for Replacement SNAP Benefits in Missouri
People with SNAP benefits who lost food due to the storms that began on May 16 need to apply for replacement benefits. When approved, these benefits will be added to their Lone Star Cards within approximately two business days.
Counties with specific deadline (June 17): SNAP recipients in Austin, Chambers, Colorado, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker and Waller counties must apply by the 17th of June.
