The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP benefits) would be ready to start a new round of payments in the month of July, when most states have already finished sending their allocations to the EBT cards.

There are only a couple of states left, Texas and Florida, that pay between the 1st and the 28th of each month, and interestingly, these are two of the states with the largest SNAP beneficiary populations in the United States. According to the most recent survey of May 2024, there are more than 3.2 million SNAP beneficiaries in the state of Florida, while in Texas there are 4.2 million of recipients.

How the States Determine Your Payment Date

Going back to the month of July (let’s stay focused, folks), most states begin to distribute their allocations starting on the 1st of the month, with a few exceptions that have much smaller populations of food stamp recipients (the old name of this federal program), and that can handle payments in a simpler way than others.

Some states pay their beneficiaries based on the date of birth, others on the last two digits of the case number they were assigned when they applied for benefits, and some others use only the last digit of that case number, to name a few examples.

But all states have their own system, since the United States Department of Agriculture (the agency that manages the funds and sends them to each place) gives each state or territory the power to decide how to group the beneficiaries in order to organize the payments in the most convenient way at the local level.

How Much Will my EBT Card Receive?

Remember that not all beneficiaries receive the same amount of money. Many factors are involved in determining how much money a household can receive, such as income, the resources they have (such as savings, properties, vehicles, investments, etc.) and also the number of people who make up the household. These are the maximum SNAP benefits values between one and eight members until September 30, 2024:
