Recipients of food stamps, now called SNAP benefits, will start enjoying new facilities as the program is updated to keep up with modern times. As part of the efforts of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), several online retailers now accept EBT cards, and families can have up to $1,751 (those who qualify for that maximum amount) to make their purchases from the comfort of their homes.
There are already more than 200 retailers authorized to accept SNAP benefits through their online platforms and applications, including renowned giants such as Costco, Target, Walgreens and Walmart. However, the availability of retailers varies from state to state, because it must be remembered that food stamp programs are administered at the state level, despite the fact that the funds are federal. Currently, the FNS is working to authorize two new retailers that operate exclusively online and do not have physical stores: Thrive and DashMart. It is expected that, after them, new sellers will be added.

Maximum SNAP Benefits Changed in 2024
Since you came here, take the opportunity to find out how much you are going to receive this month on your EBT card, because remember that the maximum amounts were increased during the current fiscal year, which ends on September 30th. This is how the amounts to be paid to the beneficiaries remained according to the size of their household:
- Household size 1: $291
- Household size 2: $535
- Household size 3: $766
- Household size 4: $973
- Household size 5: $1,155
- Household size 6: $1,386
- Household size 7: $1,532
- Household size 8: $1,751
- Each additional person: $219
It is also pertinent to remark that the benefits are masaltos in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, because the costs of living in these territories are notoriously higher than in the contiguous 49 states. For instance, for a family of four, the maximum benefits in Alaska could be as high as $1,937.
