FCA US LLC and Cummins Inc. recently reached a massive $6 million class action settlement to resolve claims from dozens of plaintiffs related to defects in the diesel engines of certain Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 series pickup trucks, model years 2013 through 2015.
This class action settlement benefits those buyers and lessees who purchased or leased these vehicles between November 26, 2014 and July 13, 2016, but does not cover all US states.
For now, the lawsuit includes plaintiffs in: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia and Washington, among others as mentioned in the settlement documents.
The plaintiffs claim that the Cummins diesel engines in certain Dodge Ram trucks have defects in the selective catalytic reduction system, causing emissions problems. Despite not admitting any wrongdoing, FCA and Cummins have agreed to this financial resolution to end the legal dispute.
Agreement Details
Under the terms of the agreement, class members who own or lease an eligible van will receive a prorated payment estimated at $100.40 per vehicle. Those who own or lease more than one truck will receive a larger payment proportional to the number of eligible vehicles they have.
The deadline to request exclusion or object to the agreement is August 21, 2024. The final approval hearing dThe settlement is scheduled for October 10, 2024. Class members who do not opt out will automatically receive payment without needing to submit a claim form.

Eligibility and Procedures
Buyers and lessees of Dodge Ram 2500 or 3500 trucks with a Cummins Diesel engine from the years 2013 to 2015 who acquired their vehicles within the aforementioned period are eligible to receive compensation. Recipients of the agreement do not need to present proof of purchase to receive payment.
The deadline to opt out of the class action settlement will be August 21, 2024, and the potential payment you could receive is $100.40, although the plaintiffs were asking for $5,000 each, according to the text of the settlement. class action lawsuit.
The defendant company did not accept having committed any crime or illegal act, while Cummins claimed to have developed repair software for the affected vehicles.
CARB and the US EPA have approved the repair. Cummins, through Fiat Chrysler, has already issued a recall called campaign 67A.
All persons and entities who purchased or leased a new Dodge Ram 2500 or 3500 with Cummins Diesel engine of the years 2013, 2014 or 2015 between November 26, 2014 and July 13, 2016 in the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
Excluded from the Class of the Settlement are: Cummins and FCA; any affiliate, parent or subsidiary of Cummins or FCA US; any entity in which Cummins or FCA US has a controlling interest; any officer, director or employee of Cummins or FCA US; any successor or assignee of Cummins or FCA US; and any judge to whom this Action has been assigned, and their spouse; individuals and/or entities validly and timely excluded from the settlement; Members of the Class who previously released their claims in an individual with regard to the problems raised in the Action.
