Henry Ford Health System Response to Class Action
According to the plaintiffs, Henry Ford Health System should have implemented appropriate cybersecurity measures to protect its patients’ data. This incident allegedly exposed names, medical records, contact information and other personal data of nearly 168,000 patients. Henry Ford Health System is an academic medical center located in Michigan.

Although Henry Ford did not admit liability, they agreed to pay $700,000 to settle the data breach class action lawsuit. Under the settlement, class members are eligible to receive up to $2,500 in reimbursement for documented expenses related to the security breach, or a prorated cash payment, the amount of which will depend on the total claims filed and other factors. Proof of damage is requested for refund but is not required for prorated payment.
The Deadline for Exclusion and Objection From Class Action and Who Is Eligible
Additionally, all class members will be eligible for one year of free credit monitoring with two agencies and a $1 million identity theft insurance policy. This benefit extends even to those who have already taken advantage of the credit monitoring previously offered by Henry Ford.
The deadline to exclude or object was September 28, 2024, while the hearing for final approval of the settlement will be held on October 29, 2024. To obtain the benefits of the settlement, class members must Submit a valid claim form by October 28, 2024.
