In the great state of Texas, SNAP benefits, formerly known as food stamps, are administered by the Department of Health and Human Services, which receives funds from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and sends them to families who need a hand to make ends meet and ensure the proper nutrition of their members.
The food stamp payment schedule starts once again and starts this May 1st, extending until the 28th. Throughout these days, all the different groups of beneficiaries will receive their respective payments, according to their SNAP EDG number. Check the list below to determine what your magic deposit date is, and start planning your household budget for the month.
Remember that the maximum benefit in 2024 is $1,751 for families of 8 members, but it is not guaranteed that having that number of members will get you the maximum payment. Many factors influence how much money the state of Texas is going to give you, among which the economic and housing situation of the members stand out, as well as their income from work.
According to the SNAP benefits pay table, while a single person can receive up to $291 per month, a two-individual household $535 and a three-individual $766, an American-type family can expect a maximum of $973 per month.

How Long Will It Take for My SNAP Application to Be Approved in Texas?
At the state level, SNAP applications in Texas for new applicants are taking 30 to 38 days to be reviewed and approved, according to the official Texas HHS website. The number of days it takes to receive the news does not depend on the caseworker, since the bureaucratic process only begins when this person gives the go-ahead and signs your application.
For those families who are in an economic and food emergency, there is a process apart and rapid, which shortens the times to approve and deliver the first resources on the “Lone Star Card”: in many cases, these exceptional fast processes can be approved as quickly as in 7 days.
People in eligible low-income households can receive food stamps. Most adults between the ages of 18 and 52 who do not have children in their household can receive SNAP only for three months in a three-year period. However, this benefit period could be longer if the person works at least 20 hours a week or is enrolled in a job training program. In addition, some adults may receive benefits without needing to work, such as those with a disability or pregnant women.
On the other hand, households in which all members are seniors (age 60 or older) or people with disabilities are eligible to participate in the Texas Simplified Application Project (TSAP). This project facilitates the SNAP application process by providing three years of benefits at once, instead of having to renew every six months. Get more help in the official HHS website here.
