This class action details how to make the claim and the deadlines. Cash App is in the process of a legal settlement alleging that it failed to adequately protect its customers between 2022 and 2023. The case seeks to compensate customers whose data was compromised, including through fraudulent transactions. Although Cash app denies any wrongdoing, it agreed to pay $15 million to those affected.
The Cash App Class Action Settlement
If you’ve used Cash app since 2018, you’re a potential candidate to be part of a $15 million deal, after an accusation of negligence after two data breaches. According to the class action, Block and Cash app Investing demonstrated “negligence and breached other obligations to users” in 2022, when a former employee accessed account data without permission.
Block said in a 2022 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it was notifying about 8.2 million current and former users about the incident. The class action alleges that the company was negligent again the following year, when “an unauthorized user” gained access to some Cash App accounts while using recycled phone numbers linked to those accounts. The plaintiffs also accused Block and Cash app Investing of failing to use account protection measures following such incidents and to “adequately resolve customer complaints about unauthorized or fraudulent transactions.”
Who is Eligible for the Cash App Data Breach Class Action Settlement?
If you want to make a claim on the Cash app settlement, you first need to make sure you are eligible.
The requirements are:
- Be a current or former Cash app customer (you do not need to continue using the service)
- Personal information obtained without consent
- Experienced fraudulent transactions between August 23, 2018 and August 20, 2024.
If you meet the above requirements, you can proceed with the claim. To file such a Cash app data breach claim, if you meet the requirements and want to make a claim in the Cash app settlement, you will need to complete a form through the settlement’s official site, if you received a notification ID and a confirmation code, don’t lose them, if you didn’t receive them, you can still make the request.

Although Block and Cash app Investing said they had no fault, or had committed any irregularity in the class action, accepted the $15 million deal, according to the deal website. However, you will need to provide “third-party documentation” linking you to “a data security incident, unauthorized account event, or error resolution deficiency” with your Cash app account, the Cash app Investing”. If you are eligible for a payment of Cash app, you must submit a form claim soon, before 10:59:59 p.m. m. (Pacific Time) on November 18, 2024.
