To understand the impact of these benefits on your household, a monthly payment of $973 in food stamps is equivalent to approximately $8 per person per day. Keep in mind that SNAP benefits are not designed to cover all of a family’s food costs, as several studies have found that the average cost of a modest meal in the United States is about $3.5 per person.
Who Qualifies for SNAP Benefits?
Not all households are eligible to receive benefits in Florida. In fact, they must meet monthly income eligibility standards that also apply to the other 48 states and Washington DC.

The payment schedule in Florida begins on the first of each month and ends on the 28th. The payment date is determined by the ninth and eighth digits of your case number (first the ninth, then the eighth, don’t ask why, doesn’t matter).
