Extra $120 for SNAP, TANF, and FDPIR beneficiaries

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced which states, territories and native tribes are participating in the new SUN Bucks program, an initiative aimed at families with school-age children who depend on food provided in school canteens to supplement their nutrition.

The FNS is the same federal agency that coordinates, from Washington and for all US states and territories, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP benefits.

In fact, households of school-age children who are enrolled in the SNAP program, as well as in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) initiative, are already automatically enrolled in the list of approved beneficiaries to receive the $120 on their SUN Bucks EBT card.

Each participating state administers as they best understand the administration and distribution dates of the EBT cards to the families who qualified for SUN Bucks. However, if your family does not automatically qualify, they can submit an application to receive the funds if they feel they are eligible and need that financial assistance during the summer months.
