The food stamps are designed to help low-income families access nutritious foods essential for a balanced diet. Remember that there are allowed products that can be purchased with food stamps, while other categories are prohibited.
You are permitted to buy fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, meats, poultry and fish, dairy products such as milk and yogurt, bread and cereals, canned goods such as soups, vegetables and fruits, eggs, and seeds and plants to produce at home.
However, there are certain products that cannot be bought with food stamps, such as alcohol, tobacco, cleaning supplies, personal care products, vitamin supplements and drugs.
