If you love Costco’s unbeatable bargains, get ready because a new store from the largest retail chain in the country could arrive in your city. So, if you thought you had hunted enough deals on Kirkland Signature products or that you had already stocked your pantry with enough toilet paper or olive oil, you are going to have to reach for your coupon book and go shopping at the new Costco stores.
The company is preparing the opening of 9 locations, of which 6 will be in the United States. And that’s not all: 6 of these stores will open suddenly in March 2025, that is, in a matter of days.
Where are the new Costco stores?
The first wave of openings is pure main character energy. Between March 7 and 15, California, Texas, Massachusetts, and Michigan will receive their new savings temples. Brentwood and Highland in Cali, Prosper and Weatherford in Texas, Sharon in Massachusetts and Genesee County in Michigan. Oh, and don’t forget Stuart, Florida, which is adding its store in April.
Because the world wants its fix of $1.50 hot dogs, and the world-famous pizza, too. Costco is looking forward to the international scene: Minami Alps in Japan opens locally in April, and Ardeer, Australia, joins later. In other words, if you have a distant cousin in Sydney or a friend in the Japanese Alps, they already have a plan for the weekend.
So you don’t get lost, here is the practical guide:
- March 7: Brentwood, California (first on the list, ahem!)
- March 8: Highland, California (yes, another one for the spoiled Californians)
- March 12-15: Sharon, Genesee County, Prosper and Weatherford (Texas teaming up)
- April: Stuart, Florida, and Minami Alps, Japan (beach and mountains, you choose)
- 2025 no exact date: Ardeer, Australia (patience, kangaroos)
Of course, if you live in one of these cities, get ready: the traffic near the new stores will be epic the first few days. Among the curious, the bargain hunters and those who just go for the pizza, there will be a line even to park. Pro tip: go on a Tuesday at noon, you’ll thank yourself.
This changes Costco’s numbers in the United States, since there were, as of November 2024, 890 stores in the country (including locations in Puerto Rico), and 109 in Canada. There are also 41 in Mexico, and then it is present in other countries in Europe and Asia such as Australia, Iceland, or Japan.
But it is also present in places as remote as New Zealand, South Korea and even China and Taiwan.
