The Project 2025, is a conservative government plan, which has gained strength in recent weeks as the 2024 presidential elections approach. This controversial book, which is an introduction to what can happen if Donald Trump reaches the White House in November, has 920 pages that covers all kinds of policies, including some affecting Social Security benefits, that addresses a variety of functions and services of government.
The project 2025 is a project which is supervised by the conservative Heritage Foundation, in their own words, serves as a policy “guide” and a “manual” of recommended actions that should be taken in the first 180 days of a Conservative government in office. According to their own introduction, Project 2025 is, “a collective effort of hundreds of volunteers who have come together in the spirit of promoting a change positive for the United States.”
There Are Important Discrepancies About the 2025 Project
Critics strongly differ, with President Joe Biden’s campaign team saying the bill would “give Trump more power over his daily life, dismantle democratic checks and balances, and consolidate power in the Oval Office.” The Center for American Progress stated that, if approved, the Project 2025 “would concentrate power in the hands of the president and launch a plan to flood the public administration with far-right supporters in order to take control of independent agencies.” Democracy Forward called it “one of the most profound threats to the American people.”

Trump has sought to stay away from Project 2025, stating “that he has no idea who is behind it,” which also found that some 140 people who have worked for the former president have been involved in its creation, including six former cabinet secretaries. “I have no idea who is behind this, I don’t agree with some of the things they are saying and some of the things they are saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal, whatever they do I wish them luck, but I have nothing “What to do with them,” Trump said the previous week.
The movement itself denied its affiliation with Trump. “We are not affiliated with former President Trump,” according to what he posted on X, the former Twitter, this week. “We are a coalition of more than 110 conservative groups advocating for policy and personnel recommendations.”
What Could Project 2025 Do to Social Security?
Despite being more than 900 pages long and covering most government departments, including defense, homeland security, agriculture, education and energy, the text of the mandate does not provide direct policy positions on the Social Security or your government agency. “The Leadership Mandate does not advocate cutting the Social Security”, he communicated Project 2025 through his social network X on July 9.
However, The Heritage Foundation has advocated to increase the age of retirement. In a June publication by Rachel Greszler, a senior researcher at the Roe Institute, she indicated that the normal age of eligibility to collect the benefits of retirement of the Insurance Social should be increased to 70 years to help withstand the looming funding gap facing the Administration of the Insurance Social (SSA). “To restore the intention of the Social Security, policymakers should gradually increase the normal retirement age from 67 to 69 or 70 (raising the age by one or two months per year) and index it to life expectancy,” Greszler commented in the blog post.
