Do you remember those Costco’s Kirkland wipes that swore they were “flushable” and encouraged you to just flush them down the toilet? Well, there was a twist in this short but interesting story (you’ll already know why it’s interesting, but I’ll tell you it has a dollar sign).
It turns out that these “flushable” weren’t as disposable as they promised. And of course, as in every good story in America, there is a class action lawsuit involved and a possible payment for buyers.
Thousands of unsuspecting customers threw the towels down the toilet after using them, as the brand promised that this could be done. And then came plumbing problems, sky-high plumber bills, and a feeling of having been cheated. Well, it seems that the same thing happened to many and decided to join together to complain.
Costco Lawsuit Over Kirkland Flushable Wipes
Costco, the bulk shopping giant, is in the eye of the storm and is worried about its image. The lawsuit alleges that Kirkland wipes, far from being “flushable,” wreaked havoc on pipes and septic systems. Costco, for its part, denies everything and assures that its products work as advertised. But of course, when there is money involved, things get interesting.
If you were one of the unsuspecting people who purchased these wipes between 2011 and 2017, you could be entitled to compensation. Don’t get too excited, though: the maximum payment per household is $55.90. Money for a pizza and some beers, nothing more anyway!
