Millions of Americans are ready to receive their check or bank transfer of up to $2,710 in the month of April, but not everyone qualifies to get that much money. In April 2024, Social Security will make payments to US citizens who meet eligibility requirements and are still financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic (which is over, but the effects of which are still felt in the household’s budget).
These payments include benefits for people with disabilities (SSDI), retired people and those with low incomes (SSI). The cost of living adjustment has increased by 3.2%, which means an increase in payments. Payment dates will vary depending on each individual’s date of birth and will be made on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month. It is important to meet the eligibility requirements to receive these Social Security benefits in April 2024.
Social Security Payments Are Coming: Know Your Date
The Social Security payment date is determined based on the beneficiary’s birthday. The Social Security Administration usually sends payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month. For example, if your birthday is between the first and the 10th of the month, you will receive your payment on the second Wednesday of the month.
For those whose birthday falls between the 11th and the 20th of the month, payment will be sent on the third Wednesday of the month. And finally, if your birthday is between the 21st and the last day of the month, you will receive your payment on the fourth Wednesday of the corresponding month.
Having clarified all this, in the month of April, payments will be made for people who have been receiving Social Security since before May 1997, with the date for them being April 3. Then, on April 10, payments will be made for those whose birthdays fall between the first and tenth of a given month. In the same month, April 17 will correspond to payments for people whose birthdays fall between the 11th and the 20th of a specific month, while April 24 will go to those whose birthdays fall between the 21st and the last day of the month.
What to Do if Your Social Security Check Is Delayed
If your Social Security check does not arrive at the scheduled date (it has happened, it could happen to you some time), it is suggested to wait an additional three days before contacting the Social Security Administration. You can then call 800-772-1213 to speak with a representative. The SSA indicates that wait times are shorter from Wednesday to Friday and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
You can also access your Social Security benefits online for convenience and to keep track of your situation.
